The mountains remember what people risk forgetting.
A documentary on the language, identity and traditions of the Walser communities of the Alps — Monte Rosa and the Aosta Valley — told through first-hand testimonies, portraits and personal stories.
Filmed and recorded in the original Walser language and subtitled, every testimony is also a linguistic record: an audiovisual archive of a heritage spoken by fewer and fewer people.
Made with the artistic supervision of Yann Arthus-Bertrand (HUMAN) and original music by Armand Amar, the film was completed in 2016 and presented in Gressoney-Saint-Jean, starting with a first public screening organised by the Forte di Bard on 16 July 2016.
